I held my solitary Yule ritual on December 21, 2015 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The location for the rite was a special dedicated room in my apartment. The ritual followed the ADF core order and was Celtic Irish in nature.
After the introduction of the rite, I proceeded to the purification part of the ritual using the sacred hallows followed by a liturgy to honor Earth Mother. I then enunciated my statement of purpose, which was to honor the return of the newborn Sun King, which I associate with Lugh. I opened the gates by inviting the gatekeeper, Manannán. I then made my offerings: Goldschläger schnapps for the Deities, Jameson Irish Whiskey for the Ancestors, eggnog and bird’s seeds to the Nature Spirits and Mother Earth and copal resin incense to the Gatekeeper. During my ritual, I burned a small Yule log in my cauldron made from poplar tree wood.
The omen was cast with my Green Witch Tarot:
- King of Chalices (Reversed): You, or one close to you, channels creative energy into something to benefit more than yourself, or him/herself.
- Nine of Chalices (Reversed): Greed, dissatisfaction, materialism. Appreciate what you already have instead of wanting for more.
- Four of Wands: Your goals were recently achieved. Enjoy the well-earned fruits of completion, enjoy your success.
I thanked the Kindreds, and closed the gates. The ritual was great and powerful. The message obtained with the omen does not surprise me at all. I really need to focus my energies on a project at the time, stopping spending too much money on stuff I think I need instead of appreciate what I already have. The last card is about my 898-pages book on Druidry that I just finished and bound by myself using the post-bound technique.
